Where Does the Money Go?

Many of you out there that have done business with us know what kinds of services we provide simply because we have helped someone close to you. You may have referred a friend, a relative or even clients in need. I thought that you might like to know..."where does the money go?" Let me give you some examples:

Joe & Shirley's Place should take in an average of $4,800.00 per month in program fees from 13 residents. That is $57,600.00 per year. This would be the ideal situation. It is really about $10,000.00 less. Taxes, insurance, utilities, cleaning supplies, trash, snow removal, new appliances, maintenance, etc. cost $50,00.00/year. We now offer free, on site therapy for JSP residents, from a licensed MSW, social worker (she gets paid). This year most floors got new carpet or tile. Most walls got fresh paint. Four JSP residents have 9 children combined, that spend overnights, as families rebuild relationships. We advocate in the courts for them.

"Time is money" so it is said. Walt Jones, the JSP property manager is available 24/7. He gets a free room and his utilities are paid, for this sometimes, less than rewarding task. He collects the program fees, performs the random drug and alcohol tests and stays up long hours, offering guidance and support to residents. Walt problem solves for families across State lines, people whose loved one is trapped in addiction. He finds treatment for them in their State. In the middle of the night, Walt will give all he can to a hurting soul. This is another huge service ARSR provides.

Las month we tried to purchase three more houses. The transaction failed because our cash flow is too slim. We will continue to move forward.

Recently, Lee Ann and I went to a "sleazy" motel in the middle of the night to "pull someone" out who had called Lee Ann for help. It is this spirit of helping the addict/alcoholic and the families who love them, that ARSR strives to uphold. Referrals come from jails, prisons, treatment centers, mental health, shelters, AA/NA/CA recovering communities and churches.

This morning there was $65.00 in the bank. This afternoon, there was $850.00. We help a lot of people in need of recovery support services, basic needs and sober housing. The bills are paid on time.

Finally, for the first time in the six years of ARSR's existence, I receive a salary: $500.00 per month (if funds are available). Not bad for the Executive Director eh?

Our vision is a seamless system of sobering center, detox, and residential treatment facility and sober 3/4 way houses in our community. So: this is "where the money goes". I thank you all, for the funds that you provide. We need cash to make things happen for people. The more money we have, the more people we can help. I thank you in advance for your continued financial and moral support.
