Pig Roast a "Friend Maker" |

The Weatherman was smiling on Joe and Shirley’s Place on Sunday, September 23rd. The Meridian Sun Golf Course was a perfect setting for the Pig Roast and Family Fun Day fundraiser. 200 pounds of delicious pig were served to 75 hungry people and 30 hotdogs to the kids in attendance. Kids played a variety of games and even the losers took prizes home! Although fundraiser-wise the pig roast could not be considered a monetary triumph—the event itself was a successful “Friend Maker” for Addiction Relief and Supported Recovery’s mission. Thanks go out to all who helped make this a fun day: Scot Leavey and Joelle White, who sat up all night cooking the pig. Many thanks to Nancy Olsen, Meridian Sun owner; volunteers from Sigma Epsilon Fraternity; and a great big thanks to Weslieann Olwell and her family for putting it all together. Board members and JSP friends who contributed sweets and treats for the cake walk.
